Beyond its exquisite flavor and vibrant color, Saffron holds remarkable importance and power. This precious spice, renowned for its natural compounds that uplift mood, combat inflammation, and possess potent antioxidant properties, is truly a gift from nature. Yet, its creation is an arduous journey, as it takes a staggering 75,000 delicate saffron blossoms to yield merely one pound of this spice. Much of the world’s saffron is meticulously hand-harvested in Afghanistan, making it one of the most labor-intensive and, consequently, one of the world’s most expensive spices.
OUR WORK
As a proud partner of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Children International, Education for Afghan Children has been officially registered with the Afghan Government since 2017, working tirelessly to promote education for Afghan children. Join us in making a tangible difference, one precious thread at a time.
You have countless options when it comes to purchasing saffron, but we invite you to choose with purpose. Our organization stands apart. We’ve uncovered a heartbreaking reality: in Afghanistan, where much of the world’s saffron is hand-harvested, an alarming 90% of the workforce are often young girls, many of whom should be in school. Unlike conventional commercial suppliers who overlook this critical issue, we are dedicated to transforming their lives.
Every person whose life is improved or saved stems from an act of generosity that’s purely voluntary. That’s why donating is so extraordinary when you do it. Your Tax-deductible Contribution can transform a child’s future.
Education for Afghan Children (EAC) is a recognized 501 (c)(3) grassroots organization, dedicated to providing quality education to Afghan Children.
The critical need for education among Afghan girls is starkly highlighted by the dire health statistics facing women in Afghanistan. With an average lifespan of only 44 years and one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world — a staggering 45% — the stakes could not be higher.
